Julianne Moore struggles to sit quietly any more, as she's always on her phone checking Twitter.

The Oscar winning actress is busy promoting her latest movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, but when she can grab a few minutes break, she'll be on social media.

"It's the one thing I'm addicted to," she confessed to Town & Country. "I follow a lot of comedians and news sites. I never sit quietly anymore. I look at my phone and check Twitter."

Julianne does have other interests though, and when she gets time off from filming or promoting a movie she enjoys looking at art and tries to collect a few pieces too.

"Some little sculpture things, a few paintings, a lot of narrative photography," she added. "But I wouldn't say I'm a major collector. The art market is out of control, but I like the idea of living with art."

While the mother-of-two has an eye for art, she doesn't have a knack for cooking, admitting she is terrible. With Thanksgiving coming up, Julianne revealed how her family spends the holiday and what she contributes to the feast.

"I always say I wish I enjoyed it (cooking) more," she admitted. "I like to bake—I always make cornbread at Thanksgiving, which is our favourite holiday to host. We usually have between 25 and 40 people, our family and friends that we've known since the kids were little."

However Christmas is quieter for the star, which she spends with just her husband Bart Freundlich, son Caleb (17) and daughter Liv (13).

"Just the four of us," she smiled. "My son usually has a basketball tournament. But I love being in the city (New York) then."

The family are close, but Julianne doesn't think Liv is anything like she was as a teenager.

"She's just her own person," she continued. "What's amazing is how quickly that happens. My mother said, about me and my sister and brother, 'You are who you are. You aren't any different from the day you were born.' I remembered that distinctly when my kids were born, because they came with very specific temperaments."
