She has everything going for her – good looks, a successful career, millions in the bank and an Oscar on her mantelpiece. But the thing that has really stood Kate Winslet (35) in good stead lately is her ability to bounce back from a crisis.

A few months ago the British actress cut a sad figure as news broke that her seven-year marriage to Sam Mendes had hit the rocks.

At the time her friends said she was depressed and heart-broken. They predicted she’d never get over the split from the American Beauty director.

But it seems they were wrong. Kate has taken less than three months to get back on her feet and find someone new.

Looking at the latest pictures of the actress it seems even she can’t believe her luck at having landed someone as hot as Louis Dowler (also 35).

They reportedly started dating in July after meeting at a mutual friend’s party in New York. At first Kate’s friends believed it was a rebound fling so they were surprised at how quickly the relationship progressed.

Even though her divorce has yet to be finalised Louis has practically moved into the homes she owns in New York and London.

“She hates the idea of having a long-distance relationship,” a friend said.

“They’re absolutely smitten. They loathe being apart.”

Those close to her say she believes Louis is “the one” and even though the timing of their relationship wasn’t great she wasn’t willing to let someone that perfect slip through her fingers.

Wealthy, attractive Louis Alexander Dowler was born in Penzance in Cornwall, England. One of five children, he studied for a university degree in Wales before becoming a model for fashion houses such as Burberry.

“Louis has a good sense of humour and is a lovely guy,” a pal says. “He’s good looking and gets lots of attention when he’s out and about but he’s not your typical model – he’s not at all big-headed.”

Although Kate’s close friends initially were a bit sceptical about her new romance it seems they’re slowly starting to warm to Louis.
