Kelly Rutherford has thanked Kim Kardashian for her support during her custody battle.

The 46-year-old actress has been embroiled in a bitter fight with ex-husband Daniel Giersch since 2012, when their children Hermés, eight, and Helena, five, went to live with their father in Monaco.

Since the battle began, Kelly has received messages of support from stars including Kim and her mother Kris Jenner, as well as her former Gossip Girl co-star Ed Westwick.

'I don't know what I would have done without it'

And Kelly says she can’t thank them enough for taking the time to rally around her in her time of need.

"I don't know what I would have done without it. It's been so incredible because - whatever anyone wants to say about anyone, they are, the people out there, like the Ed Westwick's of the world, the Kris Jenners, the Kim Kardashians," she told the New York Daily news. “People know it's not right, everyone knows it's not right. We have a huge audience. We want to raise awareness. And they've really shown up for me in a way that I could never, I had no idea was going to happen and I'm very thankful." Kim revealed her backing of Kelly’s case last month, when she tweeted a link to the actress’ petition to the White House after she lost custody to Daniel in April. “I signed this petition bc I believe it's the right thing to do & if u believe in it please sign it @KellyRutherford (sic)” Kim tweeted. “I usually don't get involved in other people's lives especially if I don't know them but this story I've been following & as a mom touched me...I know I don't know you @KellyRutherford,” Kanye West’s wife added, “But as a mom I feel your pain and I wish you the best of luck! I hope you see your babies soon!”

Kelly was awarded temporary custody of her children by a Californian judge last week, with the judge ordering the pair should return to Los Angeles to be with their mother.

However, the case then hit a snag as another judge halted the order because Monaco, not the United States, holds jurisdiction over the case.

The case continues.
