Basketball star Lamar Odom's miraculous recovery continues, as he will reportedly soon be able to stop daily kidney dialysis sessions.

Khloé Kardashian’s estranged husband has been under medical care since he was found unconscious at the Love Ranch South brothel in Nevada on 13 October after reportedly suffering a drug overdose and multiple strokes. He was in a coma for several days and was airlifted to a Los Angeles hospital after regaining consciousness, where he has surprised medical professionals with the speed of his recovery.

On Thursday reported he was stable enough to leave ICU, and it has now been claimed his kidney function is also dramatically improving. Previously he was thought to be on six-hour daily dialysis sessions as his organs were failing, with speculation he could even need a kidney transplant. Sources tell TMZ this is now no longer the case, which is one of the reasons why he has been taken out of intensive care.

Doctors had apparently feared Lamar's kidney issues could be life-threatening, which is why they are astounded he is doing so much better.

The 35-year-old star is now thought to be able to start physical therapy sessions, which he apparently needs as the strokes he suffered affected his motor skills. At the moment there has been no confirmation of exact details.

Khloé rushed to be with Lamar when he was discovered collapsed and she has rarely left his side since them. The pair also called off their divorce, which she filed for in 2013 following allegations he'd been unfaithful and was using drugs, but hadn't been finalised. This week Khloé spoke out about what that move meant, insisting she and Lamar are not back together. Rather she believed there was no need to rush the official paperwork at a time when the athlete needs to concentrate on his recovery.

Her comments in People magazine caused raised eyebrows, with many suggesting she shouldn't have spoken publicly about Lamar while he was still hospitalised. The reality TV star was quick to fire back, explaining there was more to the situation than people realised.

"I want to make this very clear... My People cover, I shot and interviewed for prior to all the events that happened," she wrote on Twitter. "It was contracted press for my book that I wrote months and months ago. Timing is what it is... Shame on you all for thinking the worst of me. It's been a tough few weeks. I don't need your f**ked up energy!... Know the facts before you throw stones.

"I had to do a follow up 5 minute phoner (phone interview) after the events only because I was contracted to. I cancelled my book tour to avoid this attention."
