Lindsay Lohan’s attorneys presented a bevy of excuses for her in court on Thursday.

The Mean Girls actress is currently on probation stemming from a 2012 reckless driving conviction in California and she was ordered to complete 240 hours of community service as part of the original plea deal.

In February an additional 125 community service hours were added to her sentence by a judge, but in a probation progress hearing on May 7, it became clear Lindsay is far from fulfilling the court-ordered labour.

According to TMZ the 28-year-old has only completed nine hours and 45 minutes of her community service requirements. The deadline for fulfillment of this is May 28 and should she come up short, her probation may be revoked and the star could be thrown in jail.

Lindsay has been doing community service at an organisation based in London, where she is currently residing.

But her lawyers attempted to excuse her dearth of hours by claiming the court-approved facility where she performs her duties takes too long to get to.

“Her lawyers said Lindsay couldn’t complete the hours because the place she does community service is too far away,” a courtroom eyewitness told Radar Online. “It’s 90 minutes from her residence in London.”

TMZ reports her attorneys lamented on behalf of their client that Lindsay is forced to hire a car service to make the three-hour roundtrip commute to and from the community service facility in England.

But the judge was not impressed and made it clear she will be in deep trouble in a few weeks if her hours are lacking.

“Lindsay wants to go to Brooklyn [New York] to complete community service where she was previously going,” the source told Radar. “The judge approved it, but said there would be ‘serious consequences’ if she didn’t complete community service by May 28.”
