A Japanese man, who wanted to die, was arrested for taking a bus driver and its passengers hostage with a pair of scissors.

Japanese police arrested a 45-year-old man on charges of taking a bus driver and passengers hostage with scissors Monday in south-western Japan, reports said.

No one was injured in the incident on the island of Kyushu, the Kyodo News agency reported.

The unemployed man reportedly demanded a meeting with his relatives in the city. He told police in Miyazaki prefecture that he wanted to die and thought he would be arrested if he caused some big problem, Kyodo said.

He reportedly called local police on Sunday morning, asking them what he should do in order to be arrested.
