Okay, this seems a little extreme...

Don't you just hate it when your partner is constantly checking their phone on a date?

It made one chap so furious he's actually taking her to court over their "date from hell".

Brandon Vezmar (37) from Austin, Texas in the US, filed a claim against his date, demanding she pay him the equivalent of R 234.39, which was the price of the movie ticket to a 3D showing of Guardians of the Galaxy, he told the American-Statesman. The 35-year-old woman, who didn't want to be named, said she didn’t know about the claim against her and was shocked that Brandon would even do something like this. “Oh my God,” she said. “This is crazy.” Apparently, the unnamed woman was texting throughout their cinema trip. She claimed in a later SMS interaction with Brandon that it was because her friend needed her at that moment.

Brandon said he met the woman online and went with her on their first date on 6 May. “It was kind of a first date from hell,” he told the American-Statesman. About 15 minutes after the movie began, he said his date started texting on her phone. “This is like one of my biggest pet peeves.” In the petition, Brandon said the woman activated her phone at least 10 to 20 times in 15 minutes to either read or send text messages. Brandon asked her to stop but she refused. He said he later told her that maybe she could go outside to text. She did, but then left the theatre and never came back.

She left in her car, which they had driven to the theatre with, leaving Brandon without a ride back home. He said he texted her a few days later asking for the price of the ticket but she refused to pay it.

The woman said she only texted on her phone in the theatre two or three times.

“I had my phone low and I wasn’t bothering anybody,” she said. She was texting a friend, who was having a fight with her boyfriend.

She said Brandon called her to ask her to pay him back for the movie ticket but she refused because he took her out on a date.

She told the American-Statesman she also planned to file a protective order against Brandon for contacting her little sister to get the money for the movie ticket.
