Shailene Woodley spoke to Hey You! from London about the movie and her co-star Theo James.

She's taking on a role similar to the one that made Jennifer Lawrence a superstar. And Shailene Woodley is more than talented enough to fill those shoes! We chatted to the star of Divergent.

You almost didn't take on the role of Tris out of fear of the fame that would come with it. Why did you change your mind?

My mom [Lori] was a big part of it. I live a simple life and the thought of changing that was strange.

What do you like about Tris?

I love that she’s an independent thinker and asks questions. She listens to herself more than anyone else. Not a lot of people think for themselves nowadays. I can relate. I do live for myself. I'm very passionate, just like Tris.

What do you like most about Theo James as Four?

Theo is very masculine and sensitive. It's hard to find that. Now actors are either very feminine or aren't feminine enough. He was a perfect balance. The moment he walked in and did his audition everyone knew immediately [he was the perfect fit].

You do most of your own stunts. Do you have any battle scars?

I do! I have a few scars on my knee and chest.

What's the most outrageous stunt you did on set?

We had to run and jump on and off trains – that was pretty intense. I tripped and fell and got dragged by a train for a minute!

If you lived in that universe which faction would you choose?

I would probably choose between Abnegation and Amity. I value the importance of agriculture, selflessness and being compassionate.

Do you have any other favourite characters in the book series?

I’m a big fan of Peter. I think he’s incredibly complex and mysterious. I also really like Four. You can tell he’s really broken and has a lot he has to work on himself but doesn't run away from it. It's admirable.

What is your biggest fear?

Not doing enough.

What do you do in your spare time?

Anything outdoors. I do a lot of cooking, go to farmers’ markets.

Any hidden talents?

I can sing!

What is the one thing you’re totally addicted to?

Food. I love all types.

If you weren't an actress, what would you be?

I studied herbalism. It's the art of knowing what herbs are medicinal. That's sort of where I got my education and creativity.
