With Mark Wahlberg, Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi.

Director: Baltasar Kormákur.

Opens 16 March.

Mark Wahlberg is the ideal metrosexual – he mostly plays tough he-men who are comfortable in their skins and aren’t afraid to reveal their sensitive sides, who sometimes cry but would never wear pink.

His relaxed macho attitude and understanding of emotions appeal to both men and women.

So you forgive him when he manipulates your feelings, as he does in this film in which he’s on the wrong side of the law.

His character is a criminal with a heart and wads of cash strapped to his sixpack.

He moves money through the Panama Canal, frequently stabbed in the back by so-called friends. But he can sniff out bad guys the way a chocaholic can smell confections in a chocolate factory and uses his instinct and iron fists to stay on top of the game.

The characters walk a tightrope of suspense and Contraband is a gut-kicking film that will make you forget about meetings and unsympathetic bosses.

It’s modern and full of spark. Giovanni Ribisi’s baddie is the toughest you’ve seen in years and Ben Foster shows he might be the next Ryan Gosling.

Men and women will enjoy this cool crime flick.
