What’s it about?

Two people fall gradually in love yet can’t seem to overcome their differences. The film shows their relationship on the same date each year for 15 years.

Who will enjoy it?

People who are serious about romance. Recently Hollywood has treated love as if it’s just a bit of fluff and an excuse for superstars to run around naked in daring scenes, to let rip with witty one-liners and as a way to draw in younger audiences.

This is a grown-up film that reflects on young people making the wrong choices too early in life.

Sometimes love is so overwhelming two immature souls (unlike Romeo and Juliet!) underestimate its power and don’t fully grasp its meaning.

In this regard One Day is one of the better romantic movies that ponder in a sober way the influence love has on young, impressionable people.

Be warned: this film is dark, frequently difficult and sometimes depressing. Don’t watch it if you’re in the mood for shallow teen antics.

It’s one of the few films that handle love with respect and refrain from depicting teens as lustful, drug-sniffing airheads. Recommended for mature teens and even nostalgic grown-ups.
