What’s it about?

A brave captain in the American defence force suddenly finds himself in the body of a passenger on a train – on which there’s a bomb that is set to explode in eight minutes.

Who will enjoy it?

Anyone who likes clever stories that unravel like a game of chess. The fun part of watching this movie is trying to stay one step ahead of the imaginative (and cruel!) scriptwriter.

Lots of things happen – and fast. It’s like Groundhog Day, the 1993 Bill Murray film, on steroids.

The same situation is repeated again and again but every time there’s a diabolical new twist – until it feels as if your imagination is going to explode.

Add the sexy charm of Jake Gyllenhaal – one of a handful of actors who can be both macho and sensitive – and you have a winner. What’s more, he’s intelligent and fights with reason rather than his fists.

This is one of the few films that can have at least five endings and our hero explores each of them.

Source Code is not as arrogant or out of control as Fast Five and reminds one of Inception more than Shutter Island.
