The 31-year-old hotel heiress married James Rothschild last July at the Kensington Palace Garden in London, England.
She donned a $77,000 (R1 million) Valentino wedding dress while walking down the aisle and Nicky spent loads of time ensuring the garment was perfect.
'We had two or three design meetings before I tried anything on'
“I knew in my mind that I really wanted to do something traditional, just classic, and white lace, and beautiful,” she told HuffPost Live. “I worked closely with them and they created the most magnificent dress that I’ve ever worn and ever will wear.”
Nicky made the design of her wedding gown, which featured an embroidered veil and a 10ft train, a family affair.
Her parents Richard and Kathy Hilton flew into London to help and sister Paris was also heavily involved.
“It was really sweet,” Nicky smiled about the help of her loved ones. “We had two or three design meetings before I tried anything on.”
Nicky is herself a fashion designer, having released handbag and clothing lines in the past.
And when she thinks about new designs, the star looks to one legendary actress in particular for inspiration.
“Grace Kelly,” she gushed. “I love Grace Kelly. She can do no wrong.”
In addition to creating gorgeous pieces, Nicky has also written about fashion in the past.
She published a book called 325 Style in 2014 filled with tips about how to dress properly for any occasion.
“365 is a method I came up with to simplify your wardrobe. The ‘3’ represents the most common occasions you dress for, the ‘6’ represents the clothing staples, and the ‘5’ is the accessories,” Nicky told Fusion previously. “This was such a fun project for me. I love fashion and just writing this book was a real trip down memory lane.”
