Talk show queen Oprah will be producing a biopic about civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr.

She may have lost out on an Oscar nomination for her acting in The Butler, but that hasn’t put a damper on Oprah Winfrey’s spirits. The media mogul is already on to her next project.

She will be producing the biopic Selma, about the historic civil rights marches that Martin Luther King Jr. led.  She’ll be working with The Butler co-actor David Oyelowo, who will portray the civil rights activist.

Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, will also be producing with Oprah.

Selma is the story of African American marchers who attempt to walk from Selma in Alabama to Montgomery in order to gain voting rights in 1965 only to be attacked by the state police.

Oprah was recently announced as the second-most influential celebrity by Forbes, with film director Steven Spielberg taking the No 1 spot.

Oprah seems to have found her spot in the production industry, her next project being the film The Hundred-Foot Journey, which she will be producing for DreamWorks.
