Among them was fellow British actor Joseph Mawle (43), best known for his portrayal of Benjen Stark in Game of Thrones and as Jesus in The Passion.

The two were having a lively conversation in the gym foyer, Green Point resident and die-hard Potter fan Petrus Malherbe told YOU.

"He [Alfred] looked a bit scruffy," he said, "But a lot of people came up to him to greet him and say hi and he was really friendly."

The two are in South Africa shooting for a new mini-series, Troy: Fall of a City. According to Deadline, the BBC One and Netflix production is set be an eight-part retelling of the fall of Troy, from the perspective of the Trojan royal family.

“The story we’re telling has an epic and political sweep but is also deeply human and intimate," said writer David Farr, who was the man behind the Tom Hiddleston hit, The Night Manager. "I look forward to seeing these actors take you on the journey.”

Alfred will play Trojan general Aeneas and Joseph will star as Odysseus, the legendary Greek king.

Louis Hunter, Bella Dayne, David Threlfall (of Shameless fame), Frances O’Connor (The Importance of Being Earnest), Jonas Armstrong, Tom Weston-Jones, David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas and Interstellar), Johnny Harris (Snow White and the Huntsman) and Chloe Pirrie (War & Peace) are also lined up to star in the new show. Clearly, the whole cast has been having a great time in SA, taking to Instagram and Twitter to share some snaps and videos:
