Quick herb bread

YOU reader Gail Wyngaard’s winning recipe.

Makes 2 loaves

Preparation time: 5 min

Cooking time: 25-30 min 

1 kg cake flour

2 sachets (10 g each) instant yeast

10 ml (2 t) baking powder

10 ml (2 t) sugar

10 ml (2 t) salt

10 ml (2 t) dried mixed herbs

10 ml (2 t) dried garlic flakes

1 litre (4 c) water

1 Grease 2 loaf tins with nonstick spray.

2 In a large bowl combine the dry ingredients, mixing well.

3 Stir in the water with a wooden spoon to form a sticky dough.

4 Divide equally between the prepared loaf tins, cover with a tea towel and allow to rise for 25-30 minutes.

5 Preheat the oven to 180 °C.

6 Bake the loaves for 30 minutes. Allow to cool and serve with your choice of spread.
