Retired! This crayon colour is now a thing of the past

Last week, the stationery company Crayola announced that they were going to put an end to the production of one of their crayon colours.

Did you also have your favourite crayon colour? Did you too want to cover all of your pictures in thick scribbles of pink, blue and blue-green?

The crayon ‘Dandelion’ will no longer be included in the pack-of-24 set. And in case it’s been years since you’ve had a pack of the childhood staple in sight, Dandelion is one of the yellow shades in the pack.

Crayola made this announcement with a video that was posted on Facebook.

In the video, the animated crayon character says he has travelled the world over, but retiring will be his biggest adventure yet.

This will go down in history as the first time a crayon colour ‘retires’.

A spokesperson for Crayola confirmed the crayon’s retirement was not an April Fool’s joke.

Asked about the colour that would replace Dandelion, Crayola said on Facebook that the new colour would be revealed in the months that follow.

“We aren’t at liberty to reveal our secrets. Dandelion’s replacement will be made known in the coming months and we cannot wait!”
