Rihanna has debuted a new tattoo which marks the year she entered the world.

The 27-year-old B***h Better Have My Money songstress has numerous inkings on her body. And she has added a new tattoo to her right ankle which reads “1988”, commemorating the year she was born. “88 killz Tagged by my dear friend @bangbangnyc (sic),” she wrote Thursday in an Instagram caption attached to an image of the marking.

Rihanna has dozens of tattoos around her body, including a large depiction of Egyptian goddess Isis across her chest. Bang Bang has worked with several celebrities, including Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus.

The Barbadian singer has strong links to fashion as well as music and has previously designed her own collection with British high street retailer River Island.

In May Rihanna's company Roraj Trade, LLC filed an application at the US Patent and Trademarks Office for a new brand called $CHOOL KILLS, a label that is rumoured to be the start of her fresh accessories line.

It’s claimed although it’s unlikely fans will stop hearing new music from her, Rihanna is planning on becoming a staple in the fashion industry.

"Rihanna has plans to create a fashion empire. She sees herself as a completely unique brand and the last year has been all about setting herself up for this," an insider told British magazine Grazia previously.

"$CHOOL KILLS will be an accessories range covering everything from tote bags to purse and, later on, fashion. She still loves the music, and it's what launched her, but this is her focus right now."

Rihanna has also shared in the past she loves clothes so much because expressing authentic feelings through dress invigorates her.

"I feel fashion is another way to tell people who you are. It's another way to tell people how you feel, without saying a word. You can tell a lot about a person by their style. My style is very free. It's fearless, it's spontaneous, it's risky. It's daring," she pointed out to the UK’s Grazia.
