Robert Downey Jr. has topped Forbes’ highest paid actor list for the third time.

The 50-year-old has taken the top spot for three consecutive years, having earned $80 million (R1 billion) in the last year thanks to his work on hit movies including Avengers: Age of Ultron. That’s an increase of $5 million (R64 million) from what he was estimated to have earned last year.

To work out the list, the publication subtracts management fees and taxes from their measured earnings.

For the first time, the list includes international stars from countries including India and China who are not necessarily known in America. In fact the top ten includes three Bollywood stars.

“[It is] the first truly global earnings tally of leading men,” the publication said.

In second place was Jackie Chan, who earned $50 million (R638 million) while Fast and Furious actor Vin Diesel came third with $47 million (R600 million). Bradley Cooper and Adam Sandler round out the top five with $41.5 and $41 million respectively.

The only British actor to make the list was James Bond star Daniel Craig, who came in at number 15 with earnings of $27 million, putting him in joint position with Thor actor Chris Hemsworth.

Forbes added that the 34 men on the list “earned a combined $941m (£603m) before taxes and fees between June 2014 and June 2015.”

A number of last year’s top ten actors were replaced this year. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson fell from second place to number 11, while Chris Hemsworth had been placed fifth in 2014.
