Britain's Duchess Catherine and Prince William's dog Lupo has been named the 50th most "fascinating" person in Britain.

The pet pooch has been awarded the honour in a poll by Tatler magazine - which measured the individuals most searched for on its 'Tatler List' of notable figures - but the cute canine failed to beat Catherine's sister Pippa Middleton, who reached second position.

Queen Elizabeth, who was described by the publication as "everyone's favourite monarch" and a "brilliant impersonator", was the highest placed royal in the list following closely behind Pippa in fourth position, with Prince Harry sixth.

Catherine, who was previously known as Kate Middleton prior to her and William's nuptials, placed seventh in the list, and the Duke of Cambridge was 16th.

While William lost out to his cousins, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice - who finished ninth and 15th respectively - the trio were all found to be more fascinating than his grandfather Prince Philip, who came in at 36th.

Other stars to make the list included Mayor of London Boris Johnson (20th), Emma Watson (28th) and third-placed Roman Abramovich, who owns high-flying English soccer club Chelsea.

The list is to be published in Tatler magazine on Friday.
