Royal sightings

It was Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first official tour as husband and wife and much was expected of them – they didn’t disappoint, especially Kate, who has embraced her royal status with grace and style.

As one royal observer commented, no one is more delighted than William.

“The joy he takes in his wife is obvious,” she says. “It was sorely lacking when his father was married to his mother but he is genuinely in love.”

Meanwhile in Durban our own princess hosted a glamorous reception at The Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga after her recent wedding to Prince Albert II of Monaco. Charlene may now be European royalty but she showed she’s still proudly South African.

A Zulu choir and dancers welcomed the guests and they were treated to a feast that included beef biltong, ostrich bobotie spring rolls, bunny chow and oysters and crayfish fresh from the ocean. For dessert the princess requested her favourite – malva pudding.
