This burger will blow your favourite fast food version out of the water!

Preparation: 10min Cooking: 15 min Serves: 6


  • 1 kg beef mince
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 10 ml (2 t) ground coriander
  • 5 ml (1 t) cumin
  • salt and pepper
  • 15 ml (1 T) oil


  • 60 ml (¼ c) mayonnaise
  • 7,5 ml (1½ t) tomato sauce
  • 2,5 ml ( ½ t) mustard
  • 1 ml (¼ t) smoked paprika
  • 1 ml (¼ t) garlic powder
  • 1 ml (¼ t) onion powder
  • 30 ml (2 T) butter
  • 6 burger buns, sliced
  • 80 ml (? c) sweet chilli sauce
  • bunch of lettuce leaves
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 5 gherkins, sliced
  • 30 g cheese slices

1. PATTIES Mix all the ingredients for the burger except the oil in a large mixing bowl until well combined and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes. Form the meat into 160 g equal-sized balls. Put them on a plate lined with baking paper and freeze for 15 minutes, but no longer.

2. Heat a pan over medium heat, add the oil to the pan and fry the patties and flatten them while frying. Set them aside.

2. SAUCE Combine all the ingredients for the sauce and mix well.

3. ASSEMBLE Heat a griddle pan over high heat. Melt the butter and put the buns, cut side down, in the pan. Toast the buns for 2 minutes on both sides or until golden and well toasted.

4. Spread the bottom buns with sauce, then top with lettuce, tomato slices and gherkins. Put the cooked patties on the buns. Put cheese slices on top and drizzle sweet chilli sauce on it. Cover it with the top bun and serve immediately.
