Share childcare for better sex

Ladies, here's some good news for you: getting your partner to look after the kids equals a better sex life. Yes, a few hours of peace and better sex!

New research from the Georgia State University found that when heterosexual couples split child care duties with their other halves, both the relationship and bedroom activities improve.

Data was analysed from more than 900 heterosexual couples, from the 2006 Marital Relationship Study. Results found that when the woman was mostly in charge of child care, both partners felt they had a low quality sex life and relationship.

'Father engagement and sharing child care with one's partner is important to both sexes'

"The important point to be made is that when we're looking at child care, the difference that we find is really between arrangements where the mother is largely responsible for child care and everything else," said researcher Daniel L. Carlson.

"What we find is that there's generally little to no downside to men being largely responsible for child care. We conclude that being an engaged father is very important to men.

"If it weren't, we wouldn't see such a high level of satisfaction. It suggests that father engagement and sharing child care with one's partner is important to both sexes."

The research was presented at the annual American Sociological Association, and despite claiming there is little to no downside another finding was that when men look after the kids the most, women have the highest overall satisfaction with their sex lives. But in this situation, men have the lowest overall satisfaction.

So somewhere in the middle can be beneficial for both partners. Time to put the kettle on and have a little you time while your partner entertains the kids then!
