Simon Cowell thinks Valentine's Day is "boring".

The music mogul is currently dating Lauren Silverman and the couple have 11-month-old son Eric together. But despite being settled in his relationship, the 55-year-old despises the most romantic day of the year.

"I hate Valentine’s Day. It’s this day of the year you’re supposed to be romantic. It’s so boring," he sighed, reports British newspaper the Daily Star. "[Lauren’s] actually going to be in New York, so we are going to celebrate on the Friday. I don’t know [what I’m going to do] yet, but as I said, I’ve never loved it. It’s not like Christmas Day.”

However Simon did joke that he would take his 37-year-old girlfriend to see steamy new flick Fifty Shades of Grey. Then to complete their night, he added that they would head to a hardware store to stock up on bondage gear.

"I’m going to have to aren’t I? And then a trip down to B&Q afterwards," he laughed, referring to a scene in the film.

One thing the couple will definitely be doing on February 14 is celebrating Eric's first birthday. The X Factor judge has taken to fatherhood like a duck to water and has opened up about how his little boy has changed his life.

"His room is the most colourful room in the house – until he reaches seven. Then he’ll be like me,” Simon told the Irish Mirror in October, referencing his penchant for decorating in black and white. “And I guess there is a new energy, yeah. It definitely feels more like a home. There’s more of a nice atmosphere. It’s definitely louder, not to the point where everybody thought I was going to be getting up at five in the morning and all that kind of stuff. He’s been a very, very happy baby."
