Preparation time: 10 min

Cooking time: 20 min

Serves: 4

45 ml (3 T) flour

45 ml (3 T) butter

250 ml (1 c) milk

410 g (1 can) mushroom pieces and stems

1 beef stock cube

salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

45 ml (3 T) seasoned flour

800 g minute steaks (sirloin)

15 ml (1 T) butter

30 ml (2 T) red wine (optional)

100 g smoked beef, thinly sliced (or any cold meat)

250 ml (1 c) cheddar and mozzarella mixed

Preheat the oven to 180°C. In a sauce pot add flour and butter on medium heat and cook until slightly golden while stirring vigorously.

Add the milk while stirring to make sure no lumps develop.

Add the mushroom pieces, stock cube and season.

Simmer for 5 minutes until thick.

Place seasoned flour in a plastic bag with the steaks and coat the steak with flour.

In a pan melt the butter on high heat, add the steaks and brown on both sides for 5 minutes.

Add the wine and simmer for 2 minutes.

Place steaks and sauce in four oven-proof bowls, top with smoked beef and cheddar and mozzarella cheese and bake until cheese has melted.

Enjoy with a warm slice of bread.
