A Chinese teenager cut off his own hand in the hope that it would cure his addition to the internet.

The teen (19), known only as Little Wang, was rushed to hospital after severing his left hand with a kitchen knife. Last Wednesday Little Wang left a note for his mom in his room before sneaking out with the knife.
'It was completely out of the blue. He was a smart boy'

The Mirror reports the note read: “Mom, I’ve gone to hospital for a while. Don’t worry. I’ll definitely be back this evening.”

He then went to a park, where he sat on a bench and sawed through his left hand.

He left his severed hand lying on the ground while calling a taxi to take him to a nearby hospital.

Doctors at the university hospital were able to reattach the hand after it was retrieved by the police, but it's uncertain whether he'll have full use of his hand again.

"We cannot accept what has happened," said his horrified mother. "It was completely out of the blue. He was a smart boy."

One of his teachers said the teenager's internet addiction had made him “impetuous”, compelling him to take drastic action.

Photos of the blood-drench bench were Little Wang amputated his hand were broadcast on local television.
