A teenager is aiming to amass a record number of writing implements after collecting 14 000 pencils.

Tushar Lakhanpal (15) is well on the way to the incredible feat after collecting more than 14 000 pencils of various shapes and sizes - two of which are said to have been used by Queen Elizabeth - and after getting into the Indian Limca Book of Records he is now hoping to land a spot in the Guinness Book of Records.

"According to the count I did last month, I have over 14 000 pencils. I am still collecting more pencils, so I am hoping to reach 15,000 soon."

"The record for largest collection of pencils belongs to Emilio Arenas from Uruguay. He has around 14 000 pencils. I think I already have a bigger collection than him and I will soon get the Guinness record."
