J K Rowling has a heart of gold. The author contacted Texan teenager, Cassidy Stay (15), who was the sole survivor of a shooting which killed both her parents and siblings.
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
In the accident, she lost her two sister and two brothers, which occurred on 9 July this year. She survived by playing dead, after a bullet hit her finger and then grazed her skull.
The teen quoted Harry Potter at their funeral, comforted by the words of Albus Dumbledore, everybody’s favourite headmaster. “Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light,” she said.

An internet campaign convinced Rowling to meet Cassidy, after which the author wrote a personal note in the style of Dumbledore, the long-bearded wizard.
Rowling also sent a wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts, a list of school supplies and a signed book. The letter was written in purple ink.
Cassidy lost her dad Stephen (39), mom Katie (34), her brothers Bryan (14 and Zach (4), and her sisters Emily (9) and Rebecca (7).
“I know that my mom, dad, Bryan, Emily, Becca, and Zach are in a much better place and that I'll be able to see them again one day. Stay Strong,” Cassidy said, at a memorial gathering just three days after the massacre.
