Happy birthday to a man who has done so much for so many. DID YOU KNOW? •Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu was born in 1931 in Klerksdorp, North West. •He had polio as a child, which left his right hand slightly smaller than the other. •He initially wanted to become a doctor but didn’t have the money to study medicine so trained as a teacher instead. •When he was in his thirties he became disenchanted with the black education system and switched to theology. •He lived in Vilakazi Street, Soweto -the only street in the world where two Nobel Prize winners lived: namely himself and Nelson Mandela •He was appointed archbishop of Cape Town at the age of 54. •He’s credited with coining the term Rainbow Nation.
