There were no royal balls or lavish garden parties to mark this duchess' milestone birthday.

True to form, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge opted for a quiet day on her 35th birthday with her family at their home Anmer Hall in Norfolk, ABC News reports.

To be fair, we're not sure how quiet it would have been for with cheeky Prince George (3) and 20-month-old Princess Charlotte around.

Although the royal siblings were on their best behaviour two days before mom's big day when they stepped out with Kate and dad Prince William (34) to attend a church service, on the Queen’s Sandringham estate.

The Queen, who had been struck down with a severe bought of flu, was also at the service in her first public appearance in over a fortnight.

It's no surprise Kate opted for an intimate family birthday -- the mother-of-two is going to have to be away from her young tots as she starts her royal appearance calendar this week.

According to The Mirror, Kate will return to work on Wednesday, kicking off her new year’s engagements with a visit to the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families in north London.

During the visit, she’ll be learning more about the centre’s work with families with children under five years old.
