Local soapie fans are abuzz over the loss of their daily fix of Days of Our Lives -- but it's not the only big change coming to the SABC schedule.

The first question on many viewers' minds will be whether Bold and the Beautiful is due to get the axe from SABC 3 too -- but the beloved soap is reportedly safe for now.

But of the three SABC channels, 3 has been given the biggest makeover, with many of their international offerings getting the boot in favour of local content.

As of 4 July, there will be no more US reality shows on SABC 3, which means the next season of The Amazing Race and Survivor fans will have to look elsewhere for their fix.

Other international shows that have been dropped by the broadcaster include The Office, Whitney, Numb3rs, Minute To Win it, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Exes. These shows will be off screens by the beginning of July, some of them midway through the season.

SABC 3 (all changes take place on 4 July unless otherwise stipulated)

  • The Bold And The Beautiful will continue to air every weekday at 6 pm. The repeat slot will change from weekdays at 9 am to weekdays at 10 am. A further Bold repeat slot will be added at 01 am on weeknights (the previous repeat slot for The Real).
  • Expresso will run for three hours instead of two and a half.
  • In place of the Days repeat, local reality programming will air from 9 to 10 am.
  • The Muvhango 10.30 am repeat slot will fall away. SABC3 will no longer repeat Muvhango.
  • The High Rollers repeat will air at 10.30 am on weekdays.
  • 7de Laan will no longer be repeated. A repeat of local reality show Strictly Come Dancing season 7 will air at 11.30 am instead.
  • The 12.00 pm slot will no longer feature classic action series.
  •  New talk show Tween Talk will fill the 2 pm slot.
  • High Rollers will air five days a week (instead of three).
  • Afternoon Express moves from 4 pm to 5 pm as of 20 July.
  • New talk show Real Talk starts in the old Afternoon Express timeslot of 4 pm on Thurs 21 July.
  • Local reality show Divas Of Jozi will air at 8 pm.
  • The Sober Companion will air at 9 pm in the old international reality slot.
  • New local talk show Late Night Talk premieres on Monday 4 July in the 10 pm slot.
  • CSI Miami moves from its Monday 10 pm slot to Monday 10.30 pm.
  • Top Chef SA starts on Tuesday 5 July at 8 pm.
  • Dr 90210 moves from 10 pm to 10.30 pm as of Tuesday 6 July.
  • Top Billing moves from 7.30 pm to 8 pm as of 7 July.

As for SABC 2, viewers will have to bid farewell to Dr Phil, with the show's 11.30 am and late night slots getting axed in favour of a variety of programming.

The rest of the morning and evening schedules stay the same. However, there has been some reshuffling:

  • At 6 pm, a new Election Debate programme will air.
  • The Sesotho/Setswana news will move from 6 pm to 6.30 pm
  • 7de Laan will now air at 7 pm.
  • Afrikaans news will be bumped up to 7.30 pm. Shows previously in the 7.30 pm slot move around over the week.
  • An Erfsondes seasons 1-3 recap will air on Tuesday 19 July, and Erfsondes season 4 (which first aired on SABC2 in 2011) will start at 8 pm on Tuesday 26 July.
