Are you confused?

We sure are. Initially, the prize was said to have gone to La La Land -- when the winner was actually Moonlight.

La La Land director Damien Chazelle had even began accepting the award, when staff came onstage to reveal the error.

“I want to tell you what happened,” Warren said, retaking the stage after the painfully awkward scene played out.

“I opened the envelope and it said Emma Stone, La La Land. That’s why I took such a long look at Faye and at you. I wasn’t trying to be funny.”

Oddly though, the official Academy Awards Twitter account ALSO announced that La La Land had won, in a tweet that has since been deleted. Was it a stunt? Just a horrible mistake? No one seems to know for sure. But Twitter is already having a great time with the bizarre turn of events.
