As Mrs Kuroki battled to deal with the loss of her sight, her husband was desperate to make her smile -- and he succeeded spectacularly.

Despite a few ups and downs, Mr and Mrs Kuroki had a good life. They owned a large dairy farm in rural Japan, a serene area where they also raised their two children.

Happily married for 30 years, their lives changed when Mrs Kuroki's battle with diabetes led her to losing her sight.

Devastated, she struggled to deal with her blindness. As she became more depressed, she became reclusive, spending most of her time indoors.

Desperate to cheer up his wife, Mr Kuroki came up with the beautiful idea to turn their dairy farm into a flower garden. Determined, he spent the next two years planting thousands of flowers. And the result is breathtaking.

It’s been a decade since the first flowers were planted and the garden is still thriving. In fact, more than 7000 people from neighboring towns visit the farm in spring to see the breathtaking sea of pink flowers.

Most importantly, the flower garden had the right effect on Mrs. Kuroki. Often spotted with a huge smile on her face, she enjoys taking long walks around the garden with her husband.
