Chet Hanks has struggled to know where he fits in because of the pressure that comes with being the son of Oscar winner Tom Hanks.

The 25-year-old is the eldest child from the Forrest Gump star's marriage to actress Rita Wilson, with the couple parents to Elizabeth and Truman too. Tom also has son Colin from his first marriage to Samantha Lewes.

Chet has battled drug problems in the past, but in a series of Instagram posts on Wednesday he discussed his issues.

"It's been a long journey discovering who I am," he said in a video on the social networking site. "Because all the pressures that I've dealt with in my life - you know, being the son of my dad and everything. Just trying to find where I fit in."

The year the wannabe rapper had reportedly gone missing, but in his posts, Chet insisted he had actually gone to rehab to clean up his act. He added that he is now "doing good" and has been able to re-evaluate things.

"I just really had to take a look at myself and my life and the way s**t was going and all the crazy stupid s**t I was doing and just finally admit to myself that it wasn't working," he admitted. "A couple months ago I was selling coke (and) doing coke until I couldn't even snort it up my nose anymore because it was so clogged. I even smoked crack."

Having taken the time to get sober, Chet is now offering advice to any of his followers who might also find themselves on a downward spiral.

"If I can change, you can change. There is a solution," he added. "You know, at the end of the day, all that stupid s**t I was doing, that's not who I am. That's not who I want to be."
