Trevor Noah on life in America

Back for a three-month stint the comedian tells us about making it big in Hollywood

You know you’re good when the prestigious Creative Artists Agency that has the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Tom Cruise, Mariah Carey and Kanye West on its books signs you.

You know you’re good when you win three awards in one year – one of them at the hugely popular, career-making Edinburgh Festival (and another at the YOU Spectacular!).

And you know you’re good when you have no trouble landing gigs at some of the top comedy clubs in Los Angeles.

Trevor Noah has done all this – and more – at the age of 28. The world is truly the homegrown funnyman’s oyster – but luckily for South Africa he hasn’t abandoned this country, despite moving to LA to make his mark on the international scene.

He’s back in SA for three months to host The Roast of Steve Hofmeyr (to be aired on Comedy Central, DStv channel 122, on 24 September) and will then tour with his new show, That’s Racist, until the end of October.

YOU’s Gilda Narsimdas managed to snatch half an hour alone with the inimitable Mr Noah. Read more in YOU 13 September 2012.
