Alien invasion and UFO sighting in Johannesburg was all marketing for a brand new TV show.

Cartoon Network announced on Wednesday that the alien invasion that took over Johannesburg North over the past two days was a stunt event for the launch of their brand new series Ben 10 Omniverse.

All the hype created around the various UFO sightings, the UFOlogist Cristo Louw’s interviews on the 5FM breakfast show and 702’s Jenny Crwys-Williams show, articles in the media, on Facebook and the microsite for The South African Coalition of Omnipresent Extra-Terrestrial Life were all linked to Cartoon Network’s new Ben 10 Omniverse.

These UFO’s will continue to be spotted in and around Johannesburg up until 15 September 2012.

The brand new series is set to take South Africa by storm and, as part of the international launch of the newest addition to the Ben 10 franchise, there will be an exclusive premiere launch event at Montecasino, in Johannesburg on 15 September 2012.

For those unable to attend the launch event, the new 4th series of Ben 10, Omniverse will be launched on South African TV screens on Cartoon Network, DSTV channel 301 on Saturday 6 October at 10:00 am, with a special one hour Ben 10 Omniverse screening of episode 1 and 2 (“The more things change”, part I and II).

After this, all Ben 10 fans will be able to catch the new series every Saturday at 10:00 am with repeats on Saturdays at 16:00 and the following Monday at 17:00.
