Social media was abuzz after a woman was spotted in Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in eastern Pretoria last week Wednesday walking around “wearing nothing”.

Fascinated shoppers grabbed their cellphones and filmed the woman walking around in a top and high-heeled boots – but wearing no pants or panties. It wasn’t long before one of the videos made its way onto YouTube and was shared far and wide.

Since it was uploaded last week, more than 32 000 people have watched the video.

In the video the woman is seen walking confidently, accompanied by a female security guard. Several people are following them with cellphones, filming the two and taking pictures.

The woman appears not to take much notice of all the attention she’s getting.

In a statement Marie Coetsee, the mall’s assistant marketing manager, says mall management is aware of the incident on 22 March “where a crowd formed around an undressed woman”.

“A female security guard escorted the woman to the nearest clothes shop, but she refused [to buy clothes]. Mall security then escorted the woman out,” Coetsee says.

“The steps were taken to ensure the safety and peace of mind of all the mall’s clients and to ensure the family-friendly environment is maintained.”
