Miley Cyrus claims her Bangerz Tour will be "educational for kids" and she hopes it will inspire her audience to check out some of her favourite artists.

Miley Cyrus claims her Bangerz Tour will be "educational for kids".

The Wrecking Ball singer starts her world tour in Vancouver, Canada, on February 14, and as well as entertaining her fans, wants to teach them a thing or two.

She told MTV: "I hope people open their minds and they look at my tour as something that I do feel is educational for kids.

"Because I think a lot of people aren't exposed to art enough and that's something that I had to learn about. It wasn't until I turned 21 that I wanted to learn because I'm from Nashville, that is not something that they care about; they pretty much teach you everything in the world as black and white and I want my fans to walk away knowing more about the art that inspires me."

Miley explained that unlike a normal pop concert, the show will take place in acts, like a stage play, and feature intermissions, by animator John Kricfalusi, best known for creating the cartoon Ren and Stimpy.

She added: "It's a lot how a play would be and we've got kind of these intermissions to keep people really involved and what I wanted is for people to see a show that they would least expect.

"It is fun for people to walk out and be like 'Oh my god did she just do that?' but there's so much that I do love about shock value, but then I really want there to be that core about the music."
