What a wild Isidecade!

2010 is treating actress Hlubi Mboya rather well. She has a hot new storyline in Isidingo, the soapie that has dominated her life for 10 years, and she hopes to marry long-time love Kirsten Arnold... well, soonish.

Her Isidingo character, HIV-positive Nandipha, has a handsome new love interest, soccer player Ace Nzimande, played by newcomer Sisa Hewana. ‘‘We’ve got great chemistry and we make a good-looking couple,’’ Hlubi says. ‘‘Yeah, he’s cute.’’

She marked 10 years with Isidingo in May and describes her time in the soap as ‘‘one hell of a ride’’. Highlights include Nandipha being kidnapped three times (‘‘that’s so Days of Our Lives’’, she quips) and her 2006 wedding to Parsons, played by Tshepo Maseko.

But Hlubi has also been busy elsewhere. She recently wrapped up filming on the movie How to Steal 2 Million, a Tarantino-style heist flick.

She and Kirsten talk ‘‘constantly’’ about marriage. ‘‘We already call each other hubby and wifey. Yes, we’re practically married but we want to get a few things out of our system first. For example we want to travel. We definitely will get married but we’re just wrapping up a few things at the moment so watch this space.’’

Having children may be a complicated issue for TV character Nandipha but not for Hlubi and Kirsten. ‘‘We want a tribe,’’ she says, ‘‘lots of little Brads and Angelinas.’’

She’s looking forward to many more eventful years with Isidingo. ‘‘I’m going to be the best I can be at my job because you should never get too comfortable. Everybody is replaceable.’’
