What do you think: Bath time

We recently asked our Facebook SuperMoms if they think it is appropriate for kids to bath together or with their parents and up till which age it should be allowed. Here’s their response.

What SuperMoms think:

Brigitta Nel As a baby yes. I will still bath with my daughter (6) and my hubby with my son (3), but not the other way around.

Renette Korb Girls and boys should bath separate and if girls bath with their mothers and boys with their fathers there is no problem at all.

Karin Laura Wilson We don't have any problems with it. We allow our children freedom in our home.

Joanne Groenewald I think it is fine until they understand the differences.

Charissa James-Mathee It’s not appropriate in my opinion.

Mpho Tshabangu I bath my kids together one is 7-years-old and the another one is 3-years-old. I don't see anything wrong. Both know they are different down there. Mietjie Visser Not at all. Let him bath alone. Nkateko Chabalala 3-years-old, because kids of this generation talk to much. Mine is only 2-years-old, but ask a lot of questions. So I won’t risk bathing with him after 3 years. When should kids be allowed to bathe or shower alone?

1.     When they want privacy. You can allow your kids to shower or bathe alone as soon as they expresses an interest in having some privacy and you're certain that they can clean themselves thoroughly, which includes washing and rinsing hair and cleaning private parts. 2.     When you’re sure that they would be safe. Bathing alone, however, can be risky because of drowning dangers, and it can take just a few seconds for even older kids to slip and drown in only a few inches of water. Because of this, many experts suggest waiting until your child is at least 8 before allowing him to dunk in the tub alone. 3.     When you’re prepared. When your kids is ready to bathe or shower solo, buy a nonslip mat and remind them that this is a grown-up privilege and that goofing around and playing games in there is very dangerous and could cause them to get hurt.
