You may have noticed something weird happening on Facebook of late – don't worry, it's not just you.

Some posts on the popular social media network have suddenly started appearing in larger than the rest. And it doesn’t happen to all posts -- most look exactly as they did before. So what’s going on?

It’s just a new function which Facebook has installed to make shorter posts stand out more -- and it's not as random as it seems.

This is how it works:

When your post is shorter than 35 characters, Facebook automatically enlarges the text to 24 points. The normal text size is 14 points.

Facebook hasn’t issued an official statement about the newest developments but the reason for the change was really just to make sure short posts don't get lost in the deluge of updates.

Not a fan? Unfortunately, Facebook doesn’t give you an option to turn off the function. But if you don’t like it, the answer is simple: make sure your post is longer than 35 words or add an attachment, like a link or picture.
