Britain's Prince William and his wife, Kate, will tour Glasgow, Scotland, on 4 and 5 April.

Britain's Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, are to tour Glasgow next month.

The royals ? who are known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn in Scotland ? will undertake a series of engagements in the city on 4 and 5 April, St James' Palace announced yesterday.

William and Catherine ? whose first child is due in July ? will visit the Emirates Arena to watch cyclists in a practice session, and also see demonstrations of netball and badminton, before heading to the Quarriers Stopover Project to see the work the charity does to help young homeless people by offering them short-term accommodation.

They will also launch Coach Core, a new project for the Royal Foundation in partnership with Glasgow Sport and the Hunter Foundation to inspire and train young sports coaches, at the Donald Dewar Leisure Centre.

William and Kate will then meet with the prince's father, Prince Charles, to open the new Tamar Manoukian Outdoor Centre at Dumfries House, a mansion which Charles has helped rejuvenate and open, and the royal trio will be greeted by a group of children from Youth United, a network of the UK's largest and most established volunteering youth organisations.

Rounding off their trip, the royal couple will visit the offices of BAE Systems Maritime, where submarines for the Royal Navy are designed, built, tested and commissioned.
