An animal dubbed a "zonkey" has been born at a zoo in Mexico and is the child of a zebra and donkey.

The animal - which is a cross between a zebra and a donkey - was born with the characteristics of a donkey on its upper body and tail but has clear white and black stripes, like that of a zebra, on its legs.

The "zonkey" - which was born at a zoo in Tamaulipas in eastern Mexico - has been named Khumba and is the offspring of resident zebra Rayas and a blue-eyed donkey who lives on a farm close to the zoo, according to euronews.
