Chicken & bacon curry

30ml olive oil

1 onion, finely diced

2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

1 green pepper, deseeded and chopped

1 tomato, chopped

250g Eskort Streaky Bacon, rashers sliced into 3

500g chicken breasts, bones and skin removed and cut into bite-size pieces

5ml ground ginger

20ml curry powder

2,5ml ground cumin

2,5 ml ground coriander

pinch of cayenne pepper


ground black pepper

150ml water

250ml cream

poppadoms, naan bread or starch of choice for serving

fresh parsley to garnish


  • Heat the oil in a pot, add the onion, garlic, green pepper and tomato and cook until softened.
  • Add the bacon, chicken, ginger, curry, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper and season with salt and pepper.
  • Stir to make sure all the spices and ingredients are well combined and cook until the chicken has started browning and the spices have cooked through.
  • Add the water and cream and mix well.
  • Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. If needed, adjust the seasoning.
  • Serve hot with poppadoms, naan bread or starch of choice and garnish with parsley.
