Easy sweet and sour stir-fry

100ml honey

50ml rice wine vinegar

45ml (3T) tomato sauce

30ml (2T) soy sauce

15ml (1T) cornflour

15ml (1t) sesame oil

8 Eskort Chicken Viennas, diced

1 small onion, sliced into half moons

1 clove garlic, finely chopped

2,5cm-piece of fresh ginger, finely chopped

1 red pepper, deseeded and sliced

1 green pepper, deseeded and sliced

1 can (225g) pineapple pieces, drained

250g basmati rice

fresh coriander, to garnish


  • Place the honey, rice wine vinegar, tomato sauce and soy sauce in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Make a slurry by combining the cornflour with a little water and add it to the honey mixture.
  • Stir continuously and simmer until the sauce has thickened, remove from heat and set aside.
  • Heat sesame oil in a wok (or large frying pan) over a high heat.
  • Add the chicken Viennas and onion and stir-fry until golden.
  • Add the garlic, ginger, peppers and pineapple pieces and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes more.
  • Add your sweet and sour sauce and mix well, fry for another 3-4 minutes, then remove from heat and serve warm with basmati rice.
