Spicy Beans on Dombolo with American Chilli Cheese Hot Dogs

This quick-to-prepare #JustDelicious breakfast is just the ticket for an early kickoff!  

INGREDIENTS:

Dombolo

1kg bread dough

Spicy Beans with American Chilli Cheese Hot Dogs

45ml (3T) olive oil 

410g (1 can) butter beans, drained 

2 cloves garlic, chopped

15 ml (1T) thyme, chopped 

5ml (1t) cayenne pepper 

5ml (1t) smoked paprika 

5ml (1t) ground cumin

5ml (1t) ground ginger 

125ml (½c) tomato puree

15ml (1T) red wine vinegar

30ml (2T) brown sugar

380g Eskort American Hot Dogs Gourmet Chilli Cheese

1 onion, chopped 

salt and pepper to taste 

METHOD:

Dombolo

  • Put the dough in a greased, heat-proof mixing bowl that can fit in a pot. 
  • Put the bowl in the pot and then half-fill the pot with water.
  • Cover with the lid and cook for 20 to 30 minutes over moderate heat.

Spicy Beans with American Chilli Cheese Hot Dogs

  • Heat olive oil in a large pan over moderate heat. 
  • Fry the beans, garlic, thyme, onions and all spices together for 5 minutes. 
  • Stir in tomato puree, red wine vinegar and brown sugar. 
  • Allow to simmer for 5 minutes then remove from the heat. 
  • In a separate pan, fry the hot dogs until golden brown. 
  • Serving Slice the dombolo, toast the slices and serve topped with a portion of spicy beans and chilli cheese hot dogs.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
