Tune in to BBC Lifestyle, DStv channel 174 on Saturday 19 May from 10:00 for a front row seat to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day, and follow our expert tips to make it a right royal experience.

Check out BBC Lifestyle; the home of dating, romance and all things wedding, to get you into the festive spirit between 13 and 18 May, from 9pm each evening. Their selection of special royal and wedding programming is set to get you amped up during the build-up to the big event.

Royal weddings closer to home may include a different set of splendor and tradition. While we know Prince Harry won’t need to pay lobola for his bride, regale your guests with different, interesting facts gathered from documentaries including Britain's Royal Weddings, as well as the incredibly romantic story behind how Prince Harry and Meghan met on a blind date in Harry and Meghan: A Modern Love Story.

Once you’re all clued-up and slap bang into the wedding spirit, all you need is the perfect guest list of the who’s who from your crew and decorations galore to get the party started.

Stick to our guide to planning the perfect viewing party:

Invitations for your lords and ladies: It all starts with the coveted regal invitation. Make it #official and create your own thanks to the ton of free templates available online.

Dashing dress-code: Ask your honorary guests to go all out and dress to the nines. From a Union Jack colour theme or bowtie, to fascinators in the hair – the bigger the better! Because who doesn’t love a themed party?

London, darling: It’s all about the décor! Set the scene with all things Windsor. From life-sized cut outs of the royal couple, to Union Jack bunting on the walls, go all out.

Photo-booth fresh: Snap up all the fun with a British-inspired photo-booth. From masks featuring printouts of the royal family, to top hats, Oscars and the family jewels. Make this a viewing party to remember!

Better on the big screen: Make your viewing party extra special and watch all the action on a big screen – or hire a projector and project the live wedding stream onto a wall. You could even go al fresco with an outdoor screening and a picnic-style party.

Fancy a spot of tea? What’s a British affair without tea and pinkies in the air? Enjoy a cuppa in an assortment of flavours, or opt for the boozy variety with a shot or two of Pimm’s. It’s a party after all!

A royal drinking game: If you want to switch things up, go for a good old drinking game. Drink every time you see a royal baby or when you see an eccentric hat, etc. This is your opportunity to get creative.

Food, glorious food: Add to the festivities with Brit-inspired food. Have an English brunch with finger foods, salmon and cucumber sandwiches and jam scones. While you’re at it, channel the lemon elderflower flavoured royal wedding cake the royals will be enjoying – it’s the official wedding cake! You wanted the full-on Buckingham Palace experience after all.

Insert some famous English phrases and accents and you’re basically a guest at the royal wedding of the season!
