Edgars helped these Proudly South African models dress for success in their local best – enter for a chance to win a wardrobe makeover of your own!

Loving local never looked so good! The recent annual Buy Local Summit & Expo included a "Dress for Success” segment during which 6 Proudly South African SMME (Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises) members and entrepreneurs were selected to receive a makeover.

Dressed to the nines in formal-wear sponsored by Edgars (Edcon is a Proudly SA member), championing the old adage “You only have one chance to make a first impression”, they used local fashions to portray different looks for the models who run their own businesses.

The models wore their uniforms or protective clothing to signify their ‘before’, but later strutted their stuff in formal wear compliments of Edgars, ready for that all-important meeting with a potential funder, or bank manager.

Their ensembles complemented their personal style and their company brand identities – and they even got to keep the clothes!

More about the models

While Frits van Ryneveld of Darling Sweet loves keeping it simple, the bold packaging of his delicious homemade toffee range inspired a more vibrant aesthetic.

Karen Heron of Earth Probiotic provides composting and food waste recycling solutions to homes and businesses – it’s environmentally friendly but it can be smelly and dirty work! She was zhooshed up and felt great to be out of her usual work clothes!

Winner of Tsogo Sun’s 2017 entrepreneur of the year competition, chef Hezron Louw is usually seen rocking his chef jacket while running his company, Sumting Fresh . But this time he was dressed to impress in an outfit he could’ve easily accepted his award in!

Karin Abrahams runs Hands On Treatment, a mobile massage company for functions. She chose a simple and elegant makeover ensemble.

Sihle Magubane, creator of South Africa’s first individually black-owned coffee brand, Sihle’s Brew , donned a suave outfit – completely different to his normal cover-ups worn when roasting, grinding, bagging and serving his famous coffee.

Mosibudi Makgato is the master brewer and mastermind behind Yamama Gemmer, a traditional ginger beer that comes ready to drink or as a concentrate. She looked elegant in a traditional look that matched her brand.
