A look at the 2020 Naledi Theatre Award winners

For most of 2020, theatre complexes and performance venues have gone by without audiences and performances. Without their usual means of income generation, practitioners have had to consider virtual interventions or, like The Fugard, risk retrenchments and indefinite closures. 

But the show continues: whether with smaller audiences in person or through livestreaming on social media platforms. With an awareness of this shared plight and determination, the chairperson of the Naledi Theatre Awards, Kgomotso Christopher said the following at the event’s virtual ceremony:
