Numerous women and men have come forward to accuse Dutch artist Julian Andeweg of rape, assault, theft and stalking. Covering a 14 year period, the allegations are detailed in an intensive three-month investigation by Dutch newspaper NRC. The publication speaks to over 80 people.
According to NRC, the Dutch artist has been accused of violent and sexually transgressive behaviour for years. There are at least 20 women and men known to NRC who say they have been victims of rape, sexual assault, assault, theft, stalking and/or intimidation - sometimes systematically over a period of years. The question the paper poses is simple: How is it that an artist can build a thriving career under persistent allegations of sexual assault and rape.
