In the early 1970s property developer Jerry Wolkoff bought a property in Queens, New York. After leasing the space to a variety of companies for twenty years, the 1990s saw him renting the space out exclusively to artists, for use as studios. Overtime, the presence of artists saw the building’s exterior adroned with street art that earned it global recognition.
